September 2010 Day Out
“On Saturday 25th September 2010, Melbury held a Company day at the Royal Gunpowder Mills at Waltham Abbey. On that day, various re-enactment groups provided displays and demonstrations of military activities throughout the past four hundred years. The enactment groups included a English Civil War group covering the period 1643 to 1646, the Napoleonic Association portraying life from the French Revolution to the Battle of Waterloo, and a group raising awareness of the Anglo-Zulu conflict (1879). Photographs of the event are attached ....
All those that attended the event had a great time and the weather was fine, but cold. Afterwards the survivors of the re-enactment day found warmth, liquid refreshment and nourishment in a local public house and restaurant. The day was a resounding success, and plans are now under way for the next Melbury Company day.”
07 - “The way disputes were resolved in 1879 before Adjudication was invented”.
15 - "Hey...Smith.....Think we are going to need an extension on this dispute, there must be 20,000 plus on the Referring side..." (Not sure everyone will get this but I am referencing the Zulu battle they spoke about)
16 - "Who said the Tolent clause was unfair, prior to this contractors drafted in "whoever shall refer a dispute to Adjudication, shall face the firing squad...."
58 - "The current ADR Panel says "WE WANT YOU" - all shall work together in the spirit of utmost co-operation and mutual trust".
67 - "Dispute Poles - quicker than Adjudication - Hand out, point, poke, the disputer with the less holes wins".
76 - "Rumour has it this will be in the future Construction Act, it will enforce prompt payment!"
